起源於古巴比倫，隨著時間的推移轉入印度，在印度、波斯被大量使用，

變形蟲圖騰（Paisley）又稱為佩斯里漩渦花紋及腰果花圖紋，名字起源於17世紀，

變形蟲圖案的披肩由印度流傳到英國之後大受歡迎，隨即風靡歐洲，

而最先開始大量製作變形蟲圖案商品的英國城鎮叫做Paisley，

於是Paisley就成了它英文名稱的由來。
